South Windsor High School staff and Bobcat Ambassadors recently hosted student breakfasts to welcome new students to the district. The gatherings provided an opportunity for the newcomers to meet their guidance counselors, administrative team, and fellow classmates, fostering a sense of community and support as they adjust to their new school.
These breakfasts were held on Wednesday, September 18th, and Friday, September 20th. All people were offered breakfast food, drinks, and donuts.
It’s important that these students know how the school is run, and how they should acclimate as students. This was an exciting opportunity for the guidance counselors to meet their new students. These breakfasts have become a tradition here at SWHS as they support the inclusive culture that exists in the building.
Bobcat Ambassadors spoke with new students, offering advice on classes and after-school clubs. The Ambassadors provided firsthand insights about the school, helping newcomers navigate their new environment.
Starting a new school year is easier when students feel prepared, especially for those new to the district.
New students thought this breakfast was helpful. As new students come to the district, more breakfasts will take place. This gives the administrators a chance to make sure they get to know all their students and the upcoming breakfasts are done well.
Even the counselors who were present at the breakfast thought it was fun and a good experience for the new students.
There was an atmosphere that was lively and chatter among the tables filled the air.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for our new students to meet other students and to ask questions to our student ambassadors,” school counselor Nathan Briggs stated.
The principal of SWHS, Mr. Joseph LeRoy and the Bobcat Ambassadors are passionate about this new program, this caused the entire room to be filled with excited chatter about the upcoming school year.
“It was for sure a good environment and there were good conversations between the students,” Briggs said.
