The South Windsor community market has been up and running every Saturday throughout the previous summer. This event allows members of the town to come and buy crafts and foods, made by local businesses in the South Windsor community.
Ever since June 1st, 2024, people from all over the community have been setting up their tents and selling their products each weekend. This is a great opportunity for everyone to come together and enjoy great music, get locally sourced products, and have a great time with their community.
Vendors sell many different kinds of products there, including scented clay, vegetables, handmade dog treats, homemade pies, and more. Even the Girl Scouts were selling blueberry lemonade.
“I love getting out and talking to people…It’s a very family-like community,” said Grace, the owner of vendor, Rockets Runway. Grace explained how she and her mother sell dog-related products, such as bandanas, hand-made treats, and other items for their company.
Cheryl Daden, a vendor who runs Whimsical Olive Branch Oils, sells organic oils that she imports straight from Italy. Daden believes the weekend market is important for everyone to be involved in, for various reasons.
“I think the Farmers’ Market is a very important weekend activity, people are getting fresh vegetables, and a lot of kids are getting exposed to fresh vegetables and organic foods,” Daden explained.
These two vendors plan to continue their work after the market closes. Grace has plans to partake in a winter market in surrounding towns, and Daden has plans to participate in winter markets, as well.
Rockets Runway has been a part of the Farmers’ Market for one year and has been very successful. However, Whimsical Olive Branch Oils has been a loyal participant for many years and shows no signs of slowing down their business.
The Farmers’ Market will continue every Saturday, beginning at 9:00 am and closing at noon. The last farmers market will take place on October 5th, before the vendors take time off for the winter season.
