As school is starting up again in South Windsor, the senior class of 2025 is rising up with the sun.
Every year a couple days before the first day, seniors gather early in the morning on the turf to celebrate the exploration of a new horizon. This has been a tradition for years, and the class of ‘25 was not wary to carry it on.
Senior year can be filled with stressful tasks such as applying for college, capstone, and the closing of their childhood and entering adulthood. Taking a few moments during their final year to relax and celebrate is refreshing, and also relieving.
High school can be challenging countless times in the four years of attending, and as Lewis said, these small traditions and moments remind us why it is all worth it in the end. Along with being sentimental comes being emotional, as many seniors are during their final year at a place they’ve found comfort and routine in over these past few years. Parents get mushy, younger friends get left behind, and even siblings miss their seniors when it is time to graduate in June. Making these memories as a whole class is crucial to making the year one to remember.
“Senior Sunrise is a way for the senior class to all come together and start our final chapter together. It unites us and gives us a preview to a year of fun activities” said senior class Vice President Lauren Graham.
Even though senior year can be dreaded, it is also a time of happiness and rejoicing. Graham is looking forward to starting her senior year with her friends and peers, and the journey to graduation along with all the traditions coming up.
As the sun rises on senior year, every moment counts. The class of ‘25 plans to make each moment a cherished memory for years to come.
