Last week on Friday, May 17, seniors partook in a favorite end-of-year activity. Senior Skip Day is an event unassociated and unapproved with the school, and is solely organized by the senior class. It is tradition to go somewhere like the beach with the class and hang out one last time all together before everyone goes off to college. It allows people to rebuild friendships and cherish ones they have had.
This year, for skip day, the majority of the class decided to go to Watch Hill Beach in Rhode Island. The beach was small and had a great small town surrounding it, with a ton of little shops by the water. There were various activities that took place, from volleyball and football, to spike ball and Oklahoma drills. It was a great way to make some long lasting memories.
“I was playing Spike Ball all day, and it was incredibly fun. It was amazing seeing so many people at the beach together and seeing our class really get along,” senior Joey Bemis said.
Even the ride there was full of memories as friends carpooled and sang in the car for the two hour ride. Friends had the opportunity to go get food and crash at each other’s place once the sun went down and a day full of memories came to an end.
“It’s a good memory to end the year with; I wish I could have stayed longer,” Alex Ezedine explained.
While Senior Skip day isn’t officiated by the school, the event itself brought the class together, creating stronger bonds. There were many group events this year but this is one that will be remembered by the senior class for a long time.
With the senior class’s final year coming to an end, their memories of their time in high school will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Senior skip day allowed seniors to have their one last hoorah as a class and leave one last memory before leaving their high school life behind.
