Students in Interact made homemade cards for SWHS teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week.
Teachers of South Windsor High School are being given goodies throughout Teacher Appreciation Week from May 6-10th as a form of appreciation for their hard work every day. They were also given handmade cards by students in the Interact Club.

Mrs. Lynch
“I love how this community has been supportive of the teachers” Mrs. Lynch, a math teacher in South Windsor High School, told The Prowl . Teaching Geometry and Algebra II, Mrs. Lynch has always been an encouraging and charismatic teacher. She inspires students to do their best in class with her dedicated way of teaching. Being advisor of the outing club, Ms. Lynch doesn’t fail to inspire students into joining extracurriculars and becoming better individuals.
Mr. Kraus
Mr. Kraus is a science teacher in SWHS who is passionate about helping students understand science better. His unique way of teaching students has always been effective. The recent success of Science Olympiad, displays his passion for science as the advisor of the club.
“My passion for teaching comes from helping students understand science better.” Mr. Kraus told The Prowl .
Ms. Whitmore
"Teacher appreciation week is a wonderful time for people to find a teacher that they really appreciate and to show them,” Ms. Whitmore, a history teacher in SWHS, explained . Her interactive and cheerful ways of teaching never fails to enlighten students to give their best effort. Ms. Whitmore has always been a supportive teacher and does her best to aid students in understanding history better. Several students favor her regardless of if they like history or not.
Mrs. McCool
Mrs. McCool, the school’s librarian is appreciated. Her ways of aiding students and managing the media center help make our school library a better place. Mrs. McCool plays a significant role in our school’s supportive and interactive community.
“South Windsor is a great place to work. I have been here 20 of my 24 years in education, and there is nowhere else I would rather be.”
Mrs. Ziff
“I love working in such a supportive community,” said Mrs. Ziff, an Art and Fashion teacher in SWHS. Mrs. Ziff is a teacher worth appreciating. She puts in great effort in order to help students understand and enjoy art to the fullest. Being the advisor of 2 art-oriented clubs further illustrates her effort into helping students understand art better. Despite their artistic abilities, Mrs. Ziff makes sure that every one of her students acquire equal appreciation for their artwork.
Mr. Ly
“We as teachers appreciate the school for recognizing our effort,” Mr. Ly, a French teacher in SWHS, said. Ly is a hardworking teacher who does his best in helping students learn French. His unique sociability never fails to help understand students' interests. With roots from Senegal, Mr. Ly does not fail to embrace the traditions of cultures across the globe by being the advisor of 5 clubs, 4 of which are cultural clubs. His cheerful and compassionate personality captures the likes of all students and staff in the school, whether they have him as a teacher or not. It is safe to say that he is one of the most liked teachers in SWHS.
The students' favor towards Mr. Ly could also be seen when his students gifted him with shoes for Teacher Appreciation Week. Freshman students, Anushka Das, Bavisha Ramakirshnan, Spoorthi Bachu and Madeline Edwards gifted Mr. Ly with his years-long obsession–shoes on May 6th
Mr. Crowley
"Music and students are everything to me,” Mr. Crowley, a music teacher in SWHS, told The Prowl .
Mr. Crowley’s love for music and teaching is vivid through his hospitable room filled with student’s love expressed through artwork. His Underground Music Club is also a symbol of his love for music. Mr. Crowley’s ability to understand and blend in with student's interests play a significant role in his ways of teaching. He makes sure that every one of his students receive equal amounts of attention by the time they leave his class, making him a teacher liked by all students who have taken his classes.
Mrs. Argenta
Mrs. Argenta is an art teacher in SWHS who puts in great effort to help students understand and enjoy art. Her cheerful and charismatic personality makes her not just a favored teacher, but also someone who is successful in understanding her students. She makes sure that every one of her students in the class receive that which is necessary for them to be successful in her class.
Mr. Gilroy
With goals towards helping students become better individuals, Mr. Gilroy is an English teacher in SWHS who should not go unnoticed for his dedication to helping students learn English content better. His effort towards hosting creative and interactive activities for his students makes him a teacher worth appreciated. With the ability to understand students and interact with them accordingly, Mr. Gilroy is a teacher favored by many. He is a teacher who puts forth continual effort into helping students feel comfortable and a part of the class. Being the advisor of the AHNH club further illustrates his efforts.
“I just know that you guys are the generation that is going to solve all the world's problems and it is up to us to help you do that.” Mr. Gilroy explained.
