The boys lacrosse team is starting off the season 3-3. Coming off of a 3 game win, Saturday April 13th, Tuesday, April 16th, and Thursday, April 18th, the boys were on a roll early this season, until their most recent game against East Catholic.
Last year, the team only won three games, so they have met last year’s win total in ten less games thus far in the season. With 3-1 in their last 4 games, the team is looking to end the week hot with a game on Thursday, April 25th against Weatherfield
“Through teamwork, perseverance and determination our lacrosse team has overcome challenges and turned them into wins,” senior defender Thomas De Haes said.
Some of the challenges the team has had were starting the season 0-2. The boys did not let those losses discourage them though.
Their best win was a 9-4 win over Berlin on Thursday, April 18th who they lost to last year. Senior Luke Taylor scored back-to-back goals to start the second half, giving the Bobcats a big lead to hold onto. Sophomore Mason Deci ended the 4th quarter by scoring from a great pass from junior Jalen Canales.
“The team both offensively and defensively played together as a whole unit, and when we play like we did we can come together and beat a lot of good teams,” junior goalie WIll Castelhano said.
Casetelhano had 7 saves on 8 shots after playing 3 quarters of the Berlin game.
The team will play this Saturday, April 27th against St. Paul Catholic. The boys look to get a huge win as they are playing their former coach Byron Catroppa.
The Bobcats have had this game on their mind all year looking to get a win against their former coach.
If the Bobcats win over St. Paul, they would have 4 wins, meaning they would only need to win 3 of their next 8 to clinch a playoff spot.
