On Friday, March 29th, South Windsor Parks and Recreation hosted their 51st Annual Egg Hunt. The event took place on South Windsor High School’s turf field, and was a blast for everyone who attended.
“Our department was so excited to offer back to the community, how could I say no?” said Assistant Director of South Windsor’s Park and Recreation, Jennifer Filer.
The event hosted 7 waves of egg hunts, allowing a large number of children to participate in the hunt. The first wave was a sensory friendly egg hunt, which accommodated kids that required a calmer experience.
The rest of the waves were categorized by ages, ranging from preschool ages to second grade.
The children were instructed to bring a basket to hold their eggs in. Before the event, the children spread out around the field, and began collecting as many eggs as they could in the time provided.
The eggs contained fun and silly items, like miniature toys and of course, a variety of candy for them to enjoy as they finished their hunt.
Children of all ages were also able to enjoy the Easter bunny mascots. Children were encouraged to capture their Easter celebration by getting a picture with the mascots.
“My daughter loved every second of meeting with the rabbit mascots,” said a first-time attendee of the egg hunt, Mansoor Memon.
Along with the egg hunt on the field, the South Windsor Community Women’s Club sponsored the “Kids Fair”. There were many games, prizes and fun for many families who attended.
“Tons of fun” said Amanda Patel, a prominent attendee of the egg hunt, who has attended the event for over 15 years.
The Annual Egg Hunt is a delightful event that brings joy and excitement to not only the kids searching for the eggs but to the entire community.
