What to Expect from the Batman Trailer

Mike Nelson, Writer

DC FanDome 2021 gave new and updated looks at Robert Pattinson’s adaptation of Bruce Wayne and Batman in the newly released trailer.

They did not let fans down as they gave some sneak peeks to future projects and announced some new projects they had moving forward.  For example they showed future looks at The Flash, Black Adam, and the new Peacemaker tv series, and of course The Batman.

The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne (Batman), Andy Serkis as Alfred, Zoe Kravitz who believed to be Selina Kyle (Catwomen), Colin Ferrel as Penguin, Paul DIno as Riddler and Jeffery Gordon rounding out with his portrayal of Commissioner James Gordon.

Jesse Schedeen who is a writer for IGN comics and other IGN channels had this to say about Pattinson in the trailer:  “But if there’s one takeaway from the new trailer for The Batman shown at DC FanDome, it’s that Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight might just be the most deranged one yet.”  Ben Affleck who was the most recent Batman and was deranged and he was definitely the darkest one yet, but Robert Pattinson looks tired and stressed as the Batman persona consumes the life of Bruce Wayne.

The audience gets a look at that as Schedeen points out this about Wayne saying that he didn’t care about what happened to himself.  “More disturbingly,” Bruce himself says “I don’t care what happens to me.” He’s clearly got a few screws loose, and he may be so consumed by his vigilante crusade and thirst for revenge that he has an actual death wish.  Even as Bruce, he has the look of someone teetering on the edge of sanity”

The most epic part of the movie was when Batman is walking down a hallway taking multiple machine gun shots to the chest and still beats up the shooters.  And doing it like nothing happened.  And to top it all off, the next cut is Batman saying, “I’m vengeance” in his iconic dark and scratchy voice.

From what the trailer showed, it definitely gave fans the hype of Pattinson’s portrayal having the potential to be the best audiences have seen.  Andy Serkis who has worked with the director of this film Matt Reeves before on the reboot trilogy of Planet of the Apes had this to say.  “”I’ll tell you that it was fantastic being reunited with Matt Reeves, [producer] Dylan Clark and [VFX supervisor] Dan Lemmon from the Apes films. We had such a great time making it, and when it eventually comes to the screen, Matt Reeves will have made another masterpiece film because he’s so super invested in it. But yeah, I’ve been forbidden, expressly forbidden, to talk about Alfred.”

It is safe to say that The Batman has the potential to amaze fans and Robert Pattinson can show audiences that his version of Batman could be the best on screen Batman yet.
