An Inside Look into SW Fire Department Volunteer, Noah Fine

Katelyn Macomber

Senior, Noah Fine, is a volunteer for the South Windsor Fire Department. He grew up around fire houses and got interested at a very young age. His love towards the fire department slowly grew until he was able to begin volunteering at 18. This past weekend there was a house fire in East Windsor which Fine was called to. His training payed off by his team grabbing the house and starting to get to what he knows best.

Fine found out there were pets inside the building which got out safe as a command established a water supply to help put out the fire. Fine explains “we were there for about 3-4 hours before we could finally get the fire to slow down” and continued their process to make sure the fire was put out. Their biggest concern throughout this fire was a barn that was directly behind the building. This barns distance from the fire made it exposed to the possibility of also catching on fire. Their main goal was to “keep the original fire contained so there would be no further fires started.” Fine explains how once the team arrived the fire had been too dangerous to get inside the building so they had to use as much defensive outside attack as they could.
