The South Windsor High school Girls Volleyball team took on Platt at home on September 12 at 5pm, with an amazing victory.
South Windsor finished off the season last year with a record of 12-11-0, ranked 46 in the state coming in second in the league. They were determined to go on with another successful season.
The Volleyball team has already taken on Bristol Eastern with a 3-1 victory. They did experience a loss of 3-0 against Farmington, but the team is back on track now with their win last night.
The Lady Bobcats finished the game with a 3-0 victory against Platt, with them being able to win all three sets during the match. The Junior Varsity and Freshman teams were also able to secure a victory during their matches.
Platt’s record last year 12-10-0 ranked 42 in state and 3rd in their league This year, Platt has a record of 1-1-0 with a 3-2 win against Windsor and 3-0 loss against Berlin.
The team was able to prepare for the game by practicing serve receive, days before the match. They were able to focus on details such as passing, blocking, serving and receiving which was crucial for the win against Platt.
Right before the game senior Aashritha Sathish was able to share her thoughts and feelings
“We always have a lot of energy before games, so the energy is always really exciting right before the match,” Sathish explained.
Senior Jennie Norzeron was also able to share her thoughts after the game about what she sees for the team in the future.
“The highlight of the game was during the second set where we were tied up at 25-25 but then we were able to get back up and win the set with a kill,” Norzerson said.
The girls varsity Volleyball team will continue to work on communication for the rest of the seasons, but overall the team is very confident that the success will continue throughout the season.
